N. Maxwell Njelita
Maxwell specializes in Real Estate,
Construction, Business and Commercial
litigation.
Maxwell holds an MBA (Master’s in Business
Administration) from Middlesex University
Business School, London. Prior to that, he
graduated from University of Calabar,
Nigeria, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws
(LL.B.) degree in 1988, and was admitted to
the Nigerian Bar in 1989. After practicing
in the area of Business and Corporate
Litigation for a number of years in Nigeria,
he relocated to London, England, where he
worked from 1992 to 1998 as a Legal Adviser
for the London Borough of Brent, advising
public-entity employees on a range of legal
matters, including public land use,
landlord/tenant, and housing law. He moved
to the Bay Area in 1999, when he became
licensed to practice before all the courts
of the State of California.
Maxwell has successfully litigated several
jury and court trials in State Courts, and
argued a number of cases before the Courts
of Appeal. He has represented a wide range
of clients, ranging from individuals and
business owners to companies and entities
such as Clorox, Roscoe’s House of Chicken
and Waffles, The Oak Tree, Kimball’s East,
Discount Mini Market in Oakland, and the
City of Oakland; to name a few.
He also devotes hundreds of hours a year
representing indigent clients on a pro bono
basis, and is a member of Alameda County Bar
Association, Alameda Contra Costa Trial
Lawyers Association, and Charles Houston Bar
Association. |
